Medical transcription is something that is becoming more popular in this time. I would like to become an MT because of the advantages and the ability to do medical transcription at home. I also enjoy typing very much that I think I could sit and just work at it most of the day. I was first introduced to medical transcription when I worked in a local hospital. At the time that I started, they decided I could type so well so they showed me how to start typing x-ray reports and progress notes. After getting comfortable with all the medical terminology and spelling of words, I started to help them type all the inpatient charts which included History and Physicals and Discharge notes. They were so backed up on inpatient charts. I then started to work on them and was able to get them up to date. My supervisor and coworkers were so amazed that I was able to accomplish such a task.

I have always wanted to be able to set my own hours and get paid for it. I have two kids that are 4 and 9. They are constantly involved in sports and just being able to attend these functions is a big part of my life. Not to mention all the housework that needs attention. Being able to work at my own pace allows me to spend time with them as well as do homework or run around as needed with them. I think that my typing speed would definitely help me out. I know without practice though, I will definitely type much slower so I am wanting to keep up with it. I am also a very good speller. Medical terminology is, of course, much different. If you don’t use it daily, it begins to fade away. Some of the advantages of this is that it gives me more knowledge of our human body. When we go to see a doctor, a lot of patients usually don’t know what the doctors or nurses are talking about. Other than their normal sickness, they have no idea what is being mentioned.  SN:1MA0N2ESY  

I would like to train with Future MT because of the reasonable cost to train. Not many schools offer a payment plan which is what most people would need with the economy being the way it is. Any help with finding employment is also a big factor. Without some kind of direction, I wouldn’t even know where to start looking. I also like being able to work at my own pace. A lot of time we feel pressured and because of that pressure we decide not to get it done. This way we can make sure it is complete instead of having a deadline. I believe Future MT covers all the basics and more. I really am excited. My goals will be to have received an MT education and find employment in the next year. Hopefully after graduation, I will be ready to gain additional experience, and maybe in the next 5 years be able to start my own MT business. I really would like to learn more as to how to run a business and make it successful.
