Books nowadays are going the way of CDs in the indisputable fact that folks are moving from the physical media to getting it on an electronic book or tablet PC, or even on your smartphone. There are naturally the old stalwarts who insist that there’s nothing better than having a great page turner in your grip, but these folk are similar to people who think the bops and crackles of a vinyl record player makes it better than a CD. Below you will find some places that have some free electronic books for you to grab.
Amazon
The makers of the Kindle and the industry leader in online book sales, and even online sales in general for what it’s worth, have a pleasant selection of free e-books for you to peruse and fill up your eReader with. The selection includes old classics which are now out of copyright and even promotional books from publishers who are on the lookout for a bit of publicity.
Project Gutenberg
The 1st ever place to get free electronic books. It is a band of volunteers typing out books which are now beyond copyright so that others can download them and read them freely. They have got a collection of over 36,000 books, so I am sure you’ll find something that you’ll like. I’d suggest going to the top 100 list though; otherwise trawling thru 36,000 books can get a bit overwhelming.
Manybooks
These guys do not have their own e-books. What they do is scour the internet for the free ebooks available and then reformat them into all of the different formats of electronic book readers out there. All of the books are not categorized that well so you’ll want to start on the recommendations page.
iTunes U
If you don’t mind iTunes, then you can use its library of free podcasts. The iTunes U deals with academic material from American and English establishments. It covers a wide selection of topics, from Finance to Fashion and everything between.
I’m hoping you find these tips easily followed. You don’t have to be an IT support expert to enjoy free electronic books.
