Dealing With A Recession With CNA Training

The economic scares of the last couple of years has had the effect of making many people think hard about what they want to do with their lives and what is available to them.  Many jobs are not recession-proof; they fall when the economy falls and when this happens, people are laid off or fired and the recession worsens for them.  However, there are some jobs that are necessary no matter what the economy is doing and certified nursing assistants falls into this safe area.  After all, regardless of the banks and the money, people will always get older, they will continue to get hurt or sick and so there will always be a need for nursing assistants.

CNA training allows you to get your foot in the door of a job that is far more recession proof than other jobs.  Working in a medical clinic, hospital or home is generally safer than other jobs because it is a people job and people will always need the help of others.  Hospitals and clinics tend to be funded as well or at least make enough money that lay offs are less common than in businesses.  On top of all that is the fact that the skills you learn in your CNA training and on the job are very transferable; if you do have to leave one area you can go to another one or even another sector where your skills will be needed, such as in a private business or for a non-profit organization.

It is projected that the demand for certified nursing assistants will rise by 25% in the next ten years as the population of much of the world continues to age with less of a foundation of youth beneath them to take their place and take care of them.  This means more nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, and home services will be required to meet the demand and thus more certified nursing assistants will be necessary.  Even in a recession (and sometimes because of it), people will still need care and this means that the skills you learn in CNA training will continue to be useful to you and your job needs.

Recessions are definitely something to worry about; they affect many people and cause problems with family and with budgets.  However, with CNA certification, you stand a far better chance of floating through a recession with your budget intact and your job secure.  And with the cost of training and the time spent so small, it’s well worth adding to your repertoire even if you have a job somewhere else-because you never know when you will be forced to suddenly change career or job paths and it’s better to be prepared than not.  With many people worrying about the instability of the economy, it’s nice to know that there is a career path where people are still in demand and will continue to be as the population grows older, and that it’s a path that isn’t overwhelmingly difficult to get into.
