Are you interested in learning more about how to wash a duvet cover? Or rather are you just in the process of purchasing one & collecting all the information you can find to help you make the right decsion? Let me just say that you have come to the right place where you will learn all that you need without a need for further reading.
I will not lie to you, the washing a duvet cover is not at all difficult. I am quite aware of the many money seekers online who try to make it look difficult simply to make money out of unsuspecting consumers. Below I will walk you through a few steps that you should follow when trying to clean up your duvet cover. Even if it’s one with a specific color like: purple duvet covers, balck and white duvet covers and microsuede duvet cover
The first thing you need to do is read the label very well that is I am talking about the care label that usually come attached to the duvet cover. As you will see you will there are those that will advice you to use dry cleaners. Never take this advice for granted – unless you don’t mind to have a shrinkage, which will result in reduced size that won’t fit over the comforter.
Once you’ve verified that there is no need for dry cleaners then you can prepare to wash it yourself.
Check to see that there are no stains that you will may have to pre-treat. You can do this by using a stain remover, which normally sits for up to 10 minutes. The longer it stays there the better as it allows the remover to soak into the cloth. Before you do your pretreatment I strongly advise that you read the label on the stain remover product for some specific instructions. A word of caution, do not let the stain dry.
After that you can then go ahead and use your home washing machine. Do not stuff it in but make sure that it is well distributed inside the machince. If you simply stuff it then the load will just go off balance and the cleaning process will not be as successful. If that happens anyway just stop the machine and redistribute the cover evenly. Every machine is different from the other so I will not waste your time and try to tell you how to set you machine for maximum cleanliness.
After the washing machine is done, pull it out and inspect it before the next step – make sure that all the stains are gone and it looks clean. You may need to reuse the stain remover if you see some traces of stains after the 1st wash. Once you are happy with the output then dry it up with your usual dryer but make sure that the heat setting is set to low.
